The Coast Guard recently declared Carteret County an official Coast Guard Community during a ceremony at Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City, North Carolina.
Rear Adm. Stephen Metruck, 5th District commander, presented Robin Comer, Carteret County Commissioner, with an official proclamation before a crowd at the ceremony, after a luncheon with community members, leaders, volunteers, and service members.
“Thank you for being our friends, our neighbors, and making Carteret County a home away from home,” said Metruck. “Your dedication and hospitality to our Coast Guard men and women is inspirational.”
The Coast Guard recognizes U.S. cities and counties that make special efforts to acknowledge the professional work of the Coast Guard women and men assigned to their area.
