The Chesapeake Bay buyboat is one of several wooden boats that were designed for specialized work on the estuary. A variation of the traditional deadrise boat, buyboats were built for transporting oysters from oyster beds to market.
Chesapeake Bay buyboats were recognizable by their tall, sharp bow, wide beam, fore mounted boom, rear cabin, and round stern.
